Daysland Cell Tower Collapse – Update

Below are the updates regarding the tower collapse in

Daysland, Alberta.

Emergency roaming services with Rogers were activated today at 12:12 MT to support resilience in the region.

A Network Technician is en-route to the site to test roaming functionality, with an estimated arrival time of 15:30 MT.

Customers in the affected region will now have access to voice calls via 4G/LTE with VoLTE (Voice over LTE), text messaging (SMS) over LTE, and limited data capped at 128 kbps, which is sufficient for WhatsApp, basic messaging, and emergency services.

LeoSat crash kits are being deployed to the impacted wireless sites in Killam and Forestburg. A Cell on Wheels (COW) deployment to Daysland is scheduled for December 22, with transport planning and configuration work currently

underway.
